Maui Crime April 19 to 25: Burglaries, Break-ins, Thefts

Maui police responded to 12 burglaries, 5 vehicle thefts and 5 vehicle break-ins in Maui County over a seven day period from April 19 to April 25, 2020.

Burglaries decreased 20 percent from the week before, when 15 incidents were reported. Vehicle thefts rose 25 percent from the week before when 4 incidents were reported; and vehicle break-ins dropped 44 percent from the previous week, when 9 incidents were reported.

Below is a complete list of incidents and the time and locations of when and where each occurred.

12 Burglaries

Kahului: 

  • Monday, April 20, 8:01 a.m.: 335 S Papa Ave., Kahului at Lihikai Elementary. Non-residential, forced entry.
  • Monday, April 20, 4:30 p.m.: Alamaha Street/Hanakai Street, Kahului at Aloha Kia storage container. Non-residential, forced entry.
  • Wednesday, April 22, 8:47 a.m.: 100 Block of E Kaʻahumanu Avenue, Kahului. Non-residential, unlawful entry.
  • Thursday, April 23, 2:02 p.m.: 777 Maui Veterans Hwy., Kahului at Kingʻs Cathedral Non-residential, forced entry.
  • Saturday, April 25, 2:42 a.m.: 600 Block of Kipapa Place, Kahului. Dwelling in civil defense emergency/disaster period.

Kīhei: 

  • Monday, April 20, 11:16 a.m.: 145 N Kīhei Rd., Kīhei at Sugar Beach Resort: Maui Canoe Club. Non-residential, forced entry.
  • Saturday, April 25, 4:42 p.m.: 2100 Block of Aluna Place, Kīhei. Dwelling in civil defense emergency/disaster period.

Lahaina: 

  • Tuesday, April 21, 9:43 a.m.: 133 Prison St., Lahaina at Prison Street Pizza. Dwelling in civil defense emergency/disaster period.

Waiʻehu: 

  • Friday, April 24, 8:34 a.m.: 600 block of Pohala Street, Waiʻehu. Residential, unlawful entry.

Wailuku: 

  • Thursday, April 23, 8:26 a.m.: 355 High St., Wailuku at Wailuku Elementary School. Dwelling in civil defense emergency/disaster period.
  • Thursday, April 23, 11:06 a.m.: 251 S High St., Wailuku at Wailuku Library. Dwelling in civil defense emergency/disaster period.
  • Thursday, April 23, 5:48 p.m.: 300 Block of Kalua Road, Wailuku. Residential, unlawful entry.

  • Sunday, April 19, 10:53 a.m.: Lahaina Bypass/Lahainaluna Road, Lahaina. Ford, maroon.
  • Sunday, April 19, 8:09 p.m.: 1000 Block of Limahana Place, Lahaina. Kia, blue.
