Maui Police Confirm COVID-19 Case in Employee at Molokaʻi District

The Maui Police Department reports an employee who works out of the Molokaʻi District tested positive for COVID-19.

The MPD received official confirmation of the case from the Hawaiʻi Department of Health on Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2021.

The asymptomatic employee, whose last worked shift was on Dec. 12, 2020, is in isolation at home, according to department reports.

According to the Department of Health Molokaʻi Office, everyone who had close contact with the individual has already been notified by DOH contact tracers. “It is very unlikely anyone who was not contacted by the Department of Health has been affected,” according to an MPD press release.

All common areas in the Police station, have been professionally disinfected and sanitized.

The individual will remain in isolation until cleared by the Department of Health.
