Cesar Gaxiola, Executive Director of the J. Walter Cameron Center announced that the center has appointed Tom Blackburn-Rodriguez as its new Fund Development Director.

Blackburn-Rodriguez was previously a consultant in private practice on Maui since 1998. He most recent assignment was as Executive Consultant for Go Maui, Inc., as an advocate for affordable workforce housing and jobs.

The Cameron Center is the home to 18 resident non-profit agencies engaged in activities for the community. These agencies provide 100+ programs and services. Thirty thousand Maui residents are served by them annually. The Center also hosts over 600 workshop, seminars and training attended by 40,000 residents annually.

The center was established in 1973. The center today is recognized as being at the crossroads for programs and services for Maui residents of all backgrounds. Organizers say it has become a safe environment for people with special needs, and a home for the health and social service organizations dedicated to serving them.
