Councilmember Tamara Paltin today announced a second virtual town hall on Saturday, Jan. 30 at 10 a.m. to discuss the West Maui Community Plan update.

The plan update process is now in the final phase and will be scheduled for review by the council’s Planning and Sustainable Land Use Committee in the coming weeks, according to Paltin, who chairs the committee. Paltin hosted an initial town hall on the plan on Jan. 20.

“The first town hall was informative and productive,” Paltin said. “I look forward to hearing from more residents Saturday, as understanding different perspectives about the county’s long-range vision and goals for West Maui is a vital part of this process.”

Representatives of the Planning Department and other officials will also be participating in the town hall, which will include presentations on:

  • the community plan updating process and purpose,
  • tips for navigating the wearemaui.org website,
  • how to review the draft plan and provide feedback and
  • the benefits of adopting the plan before the budget session.

“There will also be time allotted for questions, suggestions and discussion,” Paltin said. “The goal is to keep the public informed and engaged throughout the entire plan review process.”

Members of the public may participate in the virtual town hall at https://zoom.us/j/89393039355 or visit the Maui County Council Facebook page for the link.
