The Maui Metropolitan Planning Organization invites community members to attend a free virtual town hall via Zoom on June 15, 2021, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. to learn and share feedback on federal aid transportation projects on Maui.

There will be a presentation on the draft 2022-2025 Transportation Improvement Program that is available for public review. The TIP includes nearly 40 transportation projects on Maui that are prioritized for federal funding in the next four years. These projects range from roadway repaving and bridge repairs to safety improvements, traffic signals, buses, and complete streets projects.

By identifying our most important projects in the TIP, we can receive funding to pay for design and construction.

To register for the virtual town hall, download the latest TIP document to review or to answer a survey, go to mauimpo.org. Comments may also be emailed directly to [email protected] until June 21.

The projects listed in the current draft are based on the Hele Mai Maui Long Range Transportation Plan 2040, coordination with State and County agencies, and input from the community.

After public review, the MPO Technical Advisory Committee and Policy Board will consider approval of the TIP. When final, Maui MPO will submit the TIP for inclusion in the Statewide Transportation Improvement Program. The STIP must be reviewed and approved by the Federal Highway Administration and the Federal Transit Administration before Maui can receive federal funds.
