Person Pulled Unresponsive from Waters at Mākena State Park on Saturday

Maui police responded to the north-end beach area of Mākena State Park regarding an unresponsive male that was pulled from the water at around 4:10 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 9, 2021.

Police say that upon arrival, life-saving measures were being performed by first responder personnel; however, those measures proved unsuccessful.

The victim’s identity was being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The preliminary investigation reveals no signs of foul play. An autopsy has been scheduled.

The investigation is ongoing, and the case is currently classified as a miscellaneous fatal accident.
