New rules for parks concessions have been finalized and certified, the Department of Parks and Recreation announced today.

The County of Maui issued a press release saying, “Now, a new chapter of administrative rules addresses the process for allowing concession operations in parks and recreational facilities. The adoption of new rules follows the Maui County Council’s passage of an ordinance in May 2017 relating to concessions in County parks and recreation facilities.”

The new rules were discussed during a June 23 community meeting held via BlueJeans video conferencing. The department reviewed all testimony received and refined the rules to include community input during the department review of proposed concession sites.
