UH Creates New Enrollment Management Office

The University of Hawai‘i Maui College announced the creation of a new Enrollment Management Office, under the auspices of Student Affairs and Vice Chancellor of Students Affairs, Dr. Debra Nakama. Marcy Glassford is the new Enrollment Management Specialist and Cy Yoshizu is the new Recruiter.

The Enrollment Management Office will facilitate comprehensive channels for effectively and strategically blending campus enrollment services and initiatives for students. The office is the UHMC’s response to the challenges and opportunities that recruiting, retention and graduating students present to the college’s financial sustainability, branding and student success. It is also a comprehensive process for providing seamless services to early college and high school graduates as well as transfer, returning adults and new students.

“The new Enrollment Management Office will assist UHMC in developing a holistic understanding of the college’s enrollment environment and efforts to continually improve student recruitment and retention, financial aid retention, and enhancing the image of the campus,” said Vice Chancellor Nakama.

Marcy Glassford comes to UHMC with almost a decade of experience as both an educator and an award-winning student affairs specialist at Utah Valley University. She was the director of the college’s First-Year Experience and Student Retention for eight years. She had served as the program’s Assistant Director for two years prior to taking the lead role. Between 2019 and 2021, Glassford was recognized by the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators; in 2020-2021 First-gen Advisory Institution and First Forward Cohort and in 2019-2020 First-gen Forward Pilot Institution.

A graduate of the Shidler College of Business at UH Mānoa, Cy Yoshizu is already a familiar face at UHMC. He has been working at the college’s Office of Extended Learning & Workforce Development for two years – Instructional & Fiscal Support Specialist and Instructional & Student Support. In his new position, Yoshizu will develop, implement and evaluate recruitment and outreach strategies, programs and activities directed toward increasing awareness of UHMC and its potential benefits to potential students. He will also participate in the admissions process.
