The University of Hawaiʻi Warriors football team is set to square off against the University of Nevada, Las Vegas Rebels at Allegiant Stadium on Saturday, Nov. 13. The UH Alumni Association in partnership with The Hawaiian Islands are encouraging fans to come support the UH Warriors with “Weekend in Las Vegas” events to cheer Hawaiʻi’s team on to victory.

“This is one of the most anticipated games of the season and we are grateful to have the support of the state of Hawaiʻi, as well as the Hawaiʻi Tourism Authority and The Hawaiian Islands, as we head to the ninth island,” said David Matlin, UH athletics director. “The festivities being planned for Warrior Weekend will bring together UH alumni, football fans and Nevada residents for two days of incredible Hawaiʻi hospitality and presents a great marketing opportunity for the state.”

Both events will feature special guest appearances, food and live entertainment. More information and tickets are available by visiting the UH Alumni Association website at https://uhalumni.org.

This Warrior Weekend partnership between UH and The Hawaiian Islands was strongly supported by key Hawaiʻi legislators who encouraged HTA to replicate and expand on the success of its previous in-market event, which occurred when the Warriors played the University of Washington in Seattle in 2019. That effort resulted in greater exposure for UH and expanded awareness of HTA’s marketing efforts on the West Coast among alumni and Washington state residents attending pre-game festivities.

“Whether they are keiki o ka aina or chose our university to pursue their higher education, our UH student athletes are ambassadors of Hawaiʻi,” said John De Fries, HTA president and CEO. “This partnership strengthens the relationship between the visitor industry and Hawaiʻi’s football team, while showcasing the energy, vibrance, and aloha of our people and home.”
