The Queen Ka‘ahumanu Center kicks off its 50th anniversary celebration by offering a new scholarship program for graduating public school seniors throughout Maui County.

Five $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to seniors graduating in the spring of 2022 who are pursuing college.

Candidates will be evaluated on various criteria including academic achievement, financial need, work experience and community involvement. An essay question to solicit their retail ideas is also a key component of the application.

“What better way to honor QKC’s legacy than by investing in our future and their education,” said Marina Satoafaiga, Regional Marketing Director of Pacific Retail Capital Partners that owns the Kahului shopping center. “These young adults will help to shape our tomorrow and we can’t think of a better focus group to lean into and gain insight on how Queen Ka‘ahumanu Center can better serve its community.”
