The Democratic Party of Hawaiʻi hosts a Unity Breakfast event from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. today at the Japanese Cultural Center of Hawaiʻi on Beretania St. in Honolulu. The Unity Breakfast is a longstanding tradition where Democratic candidates come together in a show of strength and unity on the morning after the Primary Election.

In the spirit of unity, this breakfast event invites all Democratic candidates to join together to reaffirm their collective dedication to a better Hawai’i and nation. The event highlights the importance and visibility of a unified front heading into the general election.

This year’s Unity Breakfast is sponsored by community leaders including Gov. Josh Green, Lt. Gov. Sylvia Luke, US Sen. Brian Schatz, US Sen. Mazie Hirono, US Rep. Jill Tokuda, Sen. Michelle Kidani, Rep. Nadine Nakamura, and Council Member Radiant Cordero.

“Their support exemplifies the collective efforts of our Democratic leaders to foster a unified and progressive vision for Hawaiʻi,” according to the Democratic Party of Hawaiʻi announcement.

Derek Turbin, Chair of the Democratic Party of Hawaiʻi, stressed the importance of the event saying, “The Unity Breakfast is a powerful symbol of our solidarity and shared purpose. This is an opportunity for us to gather and celebrate our diverse perspectives, and unify after a hard fought primary. The Unity Breakfast brings us together as we support our Democratic candidates with the purpose of electing Democrats up and down the ballot on Nov. 5.”
