Visitor airlifted from Twin Falls on Maui after suffering injuries in fall onto rocks

A 30-year-old California man was airlifted to safety on Tuesday after suffering from injuries in a 10-foot fall onto rocks at Twin Falls on Maui. The incident was reported at 12:41 p.m. on Sept. 10, 2024.

The man, who had been hiking in the mountain area, suffered trauma injuries to his upper and lower extremities during the fall.

Firefighters with Engine 2 hiked in to the victim’s location and assessed his injuries. Crews with Rescue 10 aboard the department’s Air 1 helicopter, packaged the man and transported him to a landing zone near the Hāna Highway, where he was transferred to an awaiting Emergency Medical Services unit for transport to the hospital for further care.
