The Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa will be transformed into a powerful hub of healing, celebration, and connection for over 1,000 teens from across Maui, Lānaʻi and Molokaʻi this Saturday, May 10, 2025.

Now in its second year, Maui Flow Fest has grown into the largest teen-focused mental health and wellness event in the State of Hawaiʻi, bringing together youth, families, educators and dozens of vital organizations under one purpose: to make sure no teen feels alone.

Created and hosted by Rebuild Maui Org, Flow Fest is not a typical resource fair—it’s a red carpet affair for the next generation. From a full buffet dinner and cultural performances to massive games, raffle prizes, DJs, and a professional luau, Flow Fest blends celebration with meaningful, potentially life-changing connection. Each organization that participates—whether in mental health, education, mentorship, substance abuse prevention, or social services—sets up interactive tables where teens can learn about available resources through fun, organic engagement.

“This isn’t about making kids come to us,” says Alfy Basurto, founder of Rebuild Maui Org. “This is about meeting them where they are, creating a space where they feel celebrated and safe, and gently introducing them to resources that may one day save their lives.”

The inspiration behind Flow Fest came after the devastating Maui wildfires of 2023, where support services focused primarily on adults and young children—leaving a visible gap for teenagers. Studies show that suicide remains the leading cause of death among Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander youth ages 15–24, yet many teens still feel ashamed or unsure of how to ask for help. Flow Fest aims to change that.

With support from organizations like Maui Youth and Family Services, Maui Behavioral Health Resources, Teen Line, Kaiser Permanente, YMCA, MEO, Good 360, Hawaiʻi Community Foundation, and many more, this event is designed to show teens that seeking help isn’t a weakness—it’s an act of strength and self-love.

This year’s theme focuses on social media and its impact on mental health, helping teens reflect on self-worth, digital comparison, and how to navigate their online world in a healthier way.

“We want to reframe how teens view mental health,” adds Basurto. “It’s not just something you turn to when you’re broken. Mental health is part of wellness—just like exercise, sleep, and connection.”

Thanks to local sponsors, Flow Fest remains completely free to attendees. Organizers are still seeking sponsors and donations to help cover remaining expenses and ensure every teen has the experience of a lifetime.
