Winners of the 2025 Maui Matsuri Art Contest, sponsored by HouseMart Ben Franklin Crafts Maui, have been announced and their prized art pieces are on display at the Queen Kaʻahumanu Shopping Center.

Eight winners were selected in the contest from 37 entries across four age divisions from kindergarten to 12th grade. The winning artists received a cash prize and recognition at the Children’s Festival on May 10.

LIST OF WINNERS

  • Kindergarten – 2nd Grades:
    • 1st Place – Erin Kaneshina (Puʻu Kukui Elementary School)
    • 2nd Place – Piper Walsh (Doris Todd Christian Academy)
  • 3rd – 5th Grades:
    • 1st Place – Paul Marburger (Doris Todd Christian Academy)
    • 2nd Place – Betty Morris (Kamaliʻi Elementary School)
  • 6th – 8th Grades
    • 1st Place – Phoenix Cook (Seabury Hall)
    • 2nd Place – Mutsu Sato (Lokelani Middle School)
  • 9th – 12th Grades
    • 1st Place – Anju Bekkum (Hāna High School)
    • 2nd Place – Isabella Kusch (Kīhei Charter High School)

All entries depicted this years’ Maui Matsuri 2025 Festival theme of Nozomi “Hope and Aspiration”. The 23rd annual event takes place on Saturday, May 24, at the University of Hawaiʻi Maui College.
