Help Maui’s keiki start the school year strong by donating to school supply drives
Maui County Federal Credit Union is teaming up once again with The Salvation Army for its annual Adopt a Backpack program to help local keiki head back to school with confidence and the supplies they need to succeed.
From June 23 through July 19, 2025, community members are invited to drop off new school supplies or make monetary donations at any Maui County FCU branch in Kahului, Lahaina or Wailuku. Donations will go directly to support students in need across Maui County, ensuring every child has the tools to thrive in the classroom.
Accepted donations include basic school essentials like:
- Backpacks
- Pencils and pens
- Notebooks and folders
- Crayons and markers
- Glue sticks and scissors
A full list of suggested school supplies can be found at mauicountyfcu.org.
Monetary contributions to The Salvation Army’s Adopt a Backpack fund are also welcome at all branches. Donations are 100% tax-deductible and stay in Maui County.

“Thanks to Maui County FCU and their members, local students will be better prepared and less stressed when school starts,” added Captain Steven Howard, corps officer and Maui County coordinator for The Salvation Army. “These supplies bring hope—and help students focus on learning, not worrying.”
