A live televised broadcast covering the 2026 Primary Elections takes place on Saturday, Aug. 8, 2026 at the Akakū studios featuring host Rick Nava and Hawaiʻi Journalism Initiative’s Cammy Clark.

Coverage will feature real-time election results, live studio conversations with candidates and Maui Nui leaders about the issues shaping the community, what is happening politically, and what needs to happen to move Maui forward.

In honor of the three year anniversary of Maui’s wildfires, the coverage will include recorded interviews from Lahaina’s Kuhinia event with Akakū’s Chivo Ching-Johnson.

Coverage runs from 8-11 p.m. Viewing is available on Channels 53, 54, and 55, the Maui Stream online and mobile app, or on Akakū’s YouTube channel.
