Monthly Mokuʻula immersive film series continues Aug. 14 at Maui Ocean Center

The Lahaina Restoration Foundation’s monthly community screening of E Hoʻi Ka Nani I Mokuʻula (Let the Glory Return to Mokuʻula) will continue on Friday, Aug. 14, 2026, at 6 p.m. at Maui Ocean Center’s The Sphere. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.

The free monthly program invites residents and visitors to experience the history and cultural significance of Mokuʻula through an immersive 360-degree film presentation. Created in collaboration with cultural practitioners, kūpuna, and community members, the film uses 360-degree animation informed by oral histories to share the story of Mokuʻula — from its origins as a sacred and political center in Lahaina to its enduring cultural significance today.

Each month, the screening provides an opportunity for the community to come together, learn more about Mokuʻula, and reconnect with the history and cultural legacy of this important Lahaina site.

“Continuing these monthly screenings allows us to keep the story of Mokuʻula alive and create opportunities for our community to experience and connect with its history,” said Theo Morrison, Executive Director of the Lahaina Restoration Foundation.

The program is made possible through the support of the County of Maui Office of Economic Development, the Hawaiʻi Tourism Authority Community Enrichment Program, and Rotary District 5000.
