Executive Office on Early Learning opens 18 new public Pre-K classrooms

More Hawaiʻi families will have access to free, high-quality early learning opportunities this school year as the Executive Office on Early Learning (EOEL) opens 18 new public prekindergarten classrooms across 15 public school campuses.
The expansion is another step toward ensuring every keiki in Hawaiʻi has the opportunity to benefit from high-quality early learning, regardless of where they live or their family’s circumstances.
“Every new classroom creates an opportunity for more keiki to learn, grow and build a strong foundation for their future,” said Yuuko Arikawa-Cross, director of the Executive Office on Early Learning. “With these 18 new classrooms, we are moving closer to our goal of ensuring every keiki in Hawaiʻi has access to preschool and the opportunity to thrive.”
The 18 new classrooms are located on the following 15 public school campuses:

EOEL Public Prekindergarten classrooms are located on Hawaiʻi Department of Education public school campuses and provide children with free, high-quality early learning experiences. The program takes a whole-child approach, supporting children’s social-emotional, physical, language, literacy and cognitive development, while preparing them for a successful transition to kindergarten.
The new classrooms reflect Hawaiʻi’s continued commitment to expanding early learning opportunities for young children and families. With each expansion, the state moves closer to ensuring that high-quality early learning is accessible to keiki and families in communities across Hawaiʻi.
