Maui lane closures through Sept. 11, 2026

The state Department of Transportation will be conducting road work this week that will result in lane closures at various locations. There will be no lane closures on Monday, Sept. 7 in observance of the Labor Day holiday, unless permitted Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice. All projects are weather permitting.

— Honoapiʻilani Highway (Route 30) —

Waikapū: Roving shoulder closure on Honoapiʻilani Highway (Route 30) in both directions, between mile marker 3 and 3.01 in the vicinity of Maui Tropical Plantation and King Kamehameha Golf Club, from Wednesday, Sept. 9 to Friday, Sept. 11, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for storm drain cleaning.

Māʻalaea: Single lane closure on Honoapiʻilani Highway (Route 30) in the northbound direction between mile marker 6.3 and 6.5 in the vicinity of the Maui Ocean Center from Tuesday, Sept. 8 to  Friday, Sept. 11, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for guardrail repair. One northbound lane will be open for through traffic.

Lahaina: Right single lane closure on Honoapiʻilani Highway (Route 30) in both directions, between mile marker 19.5 and 20.3 in the vicinity of Hōkiokio Place and Shaw Street, from Tuesday, Sept. 8 to Friday, Sept. 11 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for guardrail replacement. One lane will remain open for through traffic.

Lahaina: Right lane closure on Honoapiʻilani Highway (Route 30) in the northbound direction between mile marker 20.5 and 20.8 in the vicinity of Prison Street and Dickenson Street, on Tuesday, Sept. 8 to Friday Sept. 11 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for guardrail replacement. One lane will remain open for through traffic.

Lahaina: Roving single lane closure on Honoapiʻilani Highway (Route 30) in either direction, between mile marker 20.9 and 21.9 in the vicinity of Lahainaluna Road and Kapunakea Street from Tuesday, Sept. 8 to Friday, Sept. 11, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for guardrail replacement. One lane will remain open for through traffic.

Honokōhau: Single lane closure on Honoapiʻilani Highway (Route 30) in the northbound direction between mile markers 35.3 and 36.1, from Tuesday, Sept. 8 to Friday, Sept. 11 from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., for rockfall clearing, drilling, shotcrete installation, and mesh installation. Traffic will be alternated in the open lane.

— Piʻilani Highway (Route 31) —

Kīhei (24/7 closure): Shoulder closure on Piʻilani Highway (Route 31), in the northbound direction, near mile marker 2, in the vicinity of East Waipuilani Road, 24-hours a day, 7 days a week, until further notice for construction of a new intersection for Maui Research & Technology Park residential subdivision. Kīhei: Single lane closure on Piʻilani Highway (Route 31), in the southbound direction, in between mile marker 3.5 and 3.7, in the vicinity of East Welakahao Road, from Tuesday, Sept. 8 to Friday, Sept. 11, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for guardrail repair. One through lane will remain open.

— Main Street/Kaʻahumanu Avenue (Route 32) —

Wailuku to Kahului: Roving left single lane closure on Main Street/Kaʻahumanu Avenue (Route 32) in the eastbound direction between mile marker 0 and 2.8 in the vicinity of South High Street (Route 30) and Hāna Highway (Route 36) from Tuesday, Sept. 8 to Thursday, Sept.10, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for tree crown raising/palm removal. One through lane will remain open.

Wailuku to Kahului: Roving single lane closure on Main Street/Kaʻahumanu Avenue (Route 32) in either direction between mile marker 0 and 2.84 in the vicinity of South High Street (Route 30) and Hāna Highway (Route 36) from Wednesday, Sept. 9 to Friday, Sept. 11, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for storm drain cleaning.

— Hāna Highway (Route 36/360) —

Kahului to Hoʻokipa: Roving lane closure on Hāna Highway (Route 36), in the eastbound direction, between mile marker 0 and 8.3 in the vicinity of Kaʻahumanu Avenue (Route 32) and Holomua Road, from Wednesday, Sept. 9 to Friday, Sept. 11 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for storm drain cleaning. Traffic will be maintained in both directions with a lane shift.

Kūʻau to Maliko: Single lane closure on Hāna Highway (Route 36), in either direction, between mile marker 8 and 10 in the vicinity of Mama’s Fish House and Maliko Bay from Tuesday, Sept. 8 to Friday, Sept. 11, from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for landscaping work in preparation for the Hāna Relay. Haʻikū: Roving single lane closure on Hāna Highway (Route 36), in the eastbound direction, between mile marker 13 and 14 in the vicinity of Valley Isle Memorial Park and Hohani Place, from Wednesday, Sept. 9 to Friday, Sept. 11, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for tree crown raising and removal. Traffic will be alternated in the open lane.

Huelo:  Single lane closure on Hāna Highway (Route 360), in the southbound direction, between mile marker 2.9 and 3.1, in the vicinity of Waipiʻo Stream, from Tuesday, Sept. 8 to Friday, Sept. 11, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for guardrail repair. Traffic will be alternated in the open lane.

Huelo to Kailua (night/daily work): Roving shoulder closure on Hāna Highway (Route 360), possible in either direction, between mile marker 3 and 6 from Tuesday, Sept. 8 to Friday, Sept. 11 from 12:30 a.m. to 11 a.m., for spot spraying for weed control.

Kailua: Single lane closure on Hāna Highway (Route 360), in the northbound direction, between mile marker 4.2 and 4.4, from Tuesday, Sept. 8 to Friday, Sept. 11, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., for guardrail repair. Traffic will be alternated in the open lane.

Waikamoi: Single lane closure on Hāna Highway (Route 360), in the westbound direction, between mile marker 9.79 and 10, in the vicinity of Waikamoi Stream, from Tuesday, Sept. 8 to Friday, Sept. 11 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. for slope work and road restoration. Nāhiku (night/daily work): Roving shoulder closure on Hāna Highway (Route 360), possible in either direction, between mile marker 26 and 30 from Tuesday, Sept. 8 to Friday, Sept. 11 from 12:30 a.m. to 11 a.m., for spot spraying for weed control.

— Kula Highway (Route 37) —

Makawao to ʻUlupalakua: Roving single lane closure on Kula Highway (Route 37), in the northbound direction, between mile markers 7.5 and 21.3, beginning at the intersection with Old Haleakalā Highway, from Tuesday, Sept. 8 to Friday, Sept. 11, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for tree removal/crown raising. Traffic will be alternated in the open lane.

Kula (24/7 closure): Shoulder closure on Kula Highway (Route 37), in the northbound direction, between mile markers 9.9 and 10, at the intersection with Ōmaʻopio Road, 24-hours a day, 7 days a week, until further notice for intersection improvements. Kula: Single lane closure on Kula Highway (Route 37), in the northbound direction, between mile markers 16.5 and 17.5, in the vicinity of Thompson Road from Tuesday, Sept. 8 to Friday, Sept. 11 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for installation of a water line and striping. Traffic will be alternated in the open lane.

— Crater Road (Route 378) —

Kula: Roving single lane closure on Crater Road (Route 378), in either direction, between mile markers 0 and 10 in the vicinity of Kekaulike Avenue and the Haleakalā Visitor Center entrance, from Tuesday, Sept. 8 to Friday, Sept. 11 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. for striping. Paukūkalo (night work/weekend): Single lane closure on Waiehu Beach Road (Route 3400), in the eastbound direction at the intersection with ʻEha Street from 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 11 to 6 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 12 for traffic signal work. Eastbound traffic will be rerouted in the turn lane.

— Puʻunēnē Avenue (Route 3500) —

Kahului: Roving single lane closure on Puʻunēnē Avenue (Route 3500), in either direction, between mile markers 0 and 1.09, in the vicinity of Kaʻahumanu Avenue (Route 32) to Kūihelani Highway (Route 380) from Wednesday, Sept. 9 to Friday, Sept. 11 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for storm drain cleaning. Traffic will be maintained in each direction with a lane shift.
