Deceased man found Sept. 11 in Wainiha, in area with significant flooding during Hurricane Lowell

First responders on Kauaʻi were dispatched to a report of a deceased man found in the vicinity of Kūhiō Highway and Wainiha Powerhouse Road on Friday afternoon, Sept. 11, 2026. The victim has been identified as a 59-year-old man from Wainiha.

A preliminary investigation determined that the area where the decedent was discovered experienced significant flooding during Hurricane Lowell, according to Kauaʻi police.

An autopsy is pending to determine the exact cause of death but foul play is not suspected. The investigation is ongoing.

As KPD is currently trying to notify next of kin, the manʻs name is not being released at this time.
