Maui firefighters respond to report of ferry in distress

Maui firefighters responded to the Expeditions Lānaʻi Ferry adrift on Saturday night, due to debris entangling the propeller. When firefighters arrived at the vessel, the crew had freed the entanglement on their own.
The incident was reported at 6:44 p.m. on Sept. 12, within the ‘Au’au Channel between Maui and Lānaʻi.
Rescue 10 firefighters aboard the department’s Rescue Boat 10 escorted the vessel to Māʻalaea Harbor without further incident.
Crews concluded their response at 8:45 p.m.
