Upcountry Rotary announces September Students of the Month

Upcountry Rotary announced two outstanding students recognized as its Students of the Month for September: Isabel Hartman and Joseph “Junya Boi” Braceros.

Isabel Hartman, a senior at King Kekaulike High School, is currently enrolled in rigorous coursework including AP Calculus, AP Spanish, and AP Biology. She has contributed to her community by volunteering at Camp Imua this past June in Keʻanae, and is an active member of Key Club and National Honor Society. After high school, Isabel plans to continue her education, though she remains undecided on where. Her interests include history, business, law, and healthcare.

Joseph “Junya Boi” Braceros, of Kamehameha Schools, is recognized as the embodiment of servant leadership: hardworking, humble, kind, and always willing to step in without being asked. Whether leading JustServe projects, practicing mālama ʻāina, honoring firefighters and kūpuna, working 30 hours a week, running his own business ventures, paddling, or simply checking in on a teacher or classmate, Joseph consistently gives his best and genuinely cares for those around him. What sets Joseph apart is that he doesn’t serve for recognition — it’s simply who he is. Upcountry Rotary and the Kamehameha Schools community are proud to have Joseph representing them, alongside his entire ʻOhana Braceros.

“Isabel and Joseph represent exactly what Upcountry Rotary hopes to see in our future leaders — academic excellence paired with a genuine commitment to service,” said Mary Albitz, President of Upcountry Rotary. “We are honored to celebrate them both this month and look forward to seeing all they accomplish.”
