AARP Hawai‘i is holding a free Maui successful aging conference

AARP Hawai‘i is holding a free Maui Successful Aging Conference at the Kaunoa Senior Center in Pāʻia on Saturday, Oct. 17 from 8 a.m. to noon.
Conference topics include home improvements for healthy aging; legal issues like powers of attorney and advance care directives; improving your memory and brain health; caregiving options; information for homeowners and renters to help you age at home, and a resource fair with nonprofit and government services.
Tech Savy Teens will also be on hand for one-on-one help on using your phone or other technology.
Register for the conference at events.aarp.org/Maui10-17 or go to aarp.org/local or the AARP Hawai’i Facebook page and click on the events tab to see and register for all of the events we are offering. Participants can also call 877-926-8300 to register by phone.
“AARP Hawai‘i believes everyone should be able to choose how they live as they age,” said Keali‘i Lopez, AARP Hawai’i state director. “That means older residents should know how to use the technology in their phones, be able to make improvements to stay in homes where they feel comfortable, keep fit and mentally sharp, and know about their options if they become a caregiver or need care in the future. The conference is free and you donʻt have to be an AARP member to attend so we encourage everyone to attend no matter how old you are.”
