Maui Humane Society’s ‘Run to Rescue’ sells out in-person registration; Virtual participation still open

Maui Humane Society is thrilled to announce that its inaugural Run to Rescue fun run, taking place on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2026, at 6 a.m., has officially sold out its in-person capacity of 100 runners.
Participants in the sold-out in-person event will enjoy a unique, scenic route traversing the historic old cane roads generously opened for the event by sponsor Mahi Pono. Following the run, participants and community members are invited to stay for a post-run celebration featuring a local farmers market with produce from Maui Co. Farms and a variety of community vendors.
While in-person runner spots are filled, community members and supporters worldwide can still join the cause by registering for the virtual run to log miles from anywhere.
All proceeds from the event directly support Maui Humane Society’s lifesaving programs, funding critical veterinary surgeries, daily shelter care, rehabilitation, and community pet-retention services like the 4EverPets assistance program.
“We are deeply grateful for the overwhelming response from our community, which allowed us to hit our 100-runner limit so quickly,” said Kathleen Hogarty, Director of Development at Maui Humane Society. “Run to Rescue is about turning every step into real, tangible hope for Maui’s animals. We extend a heartfelt mahalo to all of our event sponsors—especially Mahi Pono for hosting our route on their land—and to everyone participating in-person, virtually, or through donations.”
