Maui Middle School Basketball League to open 2027 season in January

Central Maui Sports Ohana is accepting players for the 2027 Maui Middle School Basketball League, which is open to 6th-, 7th- and 8th-graders across Maui County, the organization announced.

League organizers said games are tentatively scheduled to begin Jan. 17 and run through March 27. Player evaluations will take place in November and December and in January, with schedules set by each district or school coach.

Teams will be organized by district or school, according to Central Maui Sports Ohana. The organization said openings remain for teams based at private schools.

Each district or school may enter teams in the A, B or C divisions based on players’ skill, ability and age. The A division is the most competitive, followed by B. The C division is intended for younger, less experienced or less skilled players, organizers said.

A girls division will be offered if at least four teams sign up, according to the organization. Divisions may be coed.
