Maui County invites public input on H.A. Baldwin Park Adaptation Plan

County of Maui Department of Parks and Recreation is encouraging community members to participate in a Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2026, meeting that will help guide future H.A. Baldwin Park improvements and land stewardship. The H.A. Baldwin Park Adaptation Plan meeting will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. in person at the Pāʻia Community Center and online via Zoom.
The adaptation plan provides an opportunity to continue to shape how Baldwin can serve the needs of the local community while adapting to sea-level rise and other coastal hazards.

A community meeting is scheduled for March 3, 2027, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Pā‘ia Community Center to present the draft adaptation plan, which is being completed by DPR and project consultant SSFM International. The public will be invited to review and comment on the draft plan before it is finalized in summer 2027.
Located in Pā‘ia, H.A. Baldwin Park is the County of Maui’s largest beach park. It encompasses 86 acres of beaches, open lawns, trails and forest tracts. The park is also home to the Pā‘ia Youth and Cultural Center and the Rinzai Zen Mission.
From 2018 through 2020, DPR worked with consultants and community members to develop the interim H.A. Baldwin Park master plan. After severe weather destroyed the park pavilion and increased coastal hazards impacted the coastline, planners saw the need to update information in the master plan. Also, related Alexander & Baldwin land was acquired since 2014, highlighting the need for stewardship.
