Kaiser Permanente Hawaiʻi earns high rating for Medicare health plan

Kaiser Permanente Hawaiʻi’s Medicare Advantage health plan earned 4.5 out of 5 stars from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services in its 2027 star ratings.
Kaiser Permanente Hawaiʻi’s Medicare health plan is tied for the highest rating in the state and has been highly rated for 17 consecutive years (2011–2027).
The high rating reflects the expert medicine, seamless care and outstanding service Kaiser Permanente Hawaiʻi provides to nearly 37,000 Medicare health plan members across the state. For the third year in a row, all Kaiser Permanente Medicare health plans are rated 4 stars or higher.
Ratings reflect high-quality care and service
Every year, CMS publishes Medicare Advantage (Part C) and Medicare prescription drug plan (Part D) ratings. Consumers can use the ratings to compare the quality of Medicare health plans.
CMS evaluates several key areas of care and service to determine star ratings, including how well health plans help members stay healthy and manage ongoing health conditions. CMS also considers member experiences, customer service, access to care, and pharmacy services.
“Delivering high-quality care means continually improving both our members’ health outcomes and their experience with us,” said Karen Ching, MD, associate area medical director of quality for Kaiser Permanente in Hawaiʻi. “Our 4.5-star rating reflects our teams’ dedication to working together to help members stay healthy, manage ongoing conditions, and get the care they need.”

Kaiser Permanente is an HMO plan with a Medicare contract. Enrollment in Kaiser Permanente depends on contract renewal. Every year, Medicare evaluates plans based on a 5-star rating system. Contract H2704, Hawaiʻi’s Medicare Advantage Dual Eligible Special Needs Plan (D-SNP), is too new to be measured.
