Bank of Hawai‘i celebrates Hello Kitty Day with exclusive Hello Kitty and Friends collaboration

In celebration of Hello Kitty Day on Nov. 1, Bank of Hawai‘i is highlighting its recent collaboration with Sanrio, bringing the beloved Hello Kitty and Friends characters together with local favorites in an exclusive collection of debit cards and checks.

The Bank of Hawai‘i x Hello Kitty and Friends collection gives customers a fun new way to personalize their everyday banking, according to the announcement. The limited-edition debit cards were created exclusively for Bank of Hawai‘i and feature three designs inspired by local favorites: Shave Ice, Kakimochi and Bankohana, which incorporates a palaka-inspired design.

The collection marks a playful pairing between Sanrio and Bank of Hawai‘i, combining recognizable characters with designs rooted in the islands.

“Hello Kitty has brought joy to generations of fans, and we wanted this collaboration to feel especially meaningful for our customers here in Hawaiʻi,” said Joy Ishiara, EVP and executive director of brand and integrated marketing at Bank of Hawai‘i. “From shave ice and kakimochi to palaka, these designs celebrate some of the things that make our home uniquely us, while giving customers another way to express their love for Hello Kitty and Friends.”

Customers with an eligible Bank of Hawai‘i consumer checking account can choose the Shave Ice or Kakimochi debit card designs. The Bankohana design is exclusively available to Bankohana consumer checking accountholders. The debit cards are available for a one-time $18 fee.
