The Coast Guard transported two ailing people from Kwajalein Hospital, Thursday.

An HC-130 Hercules airplane crew from Coast Guard Air Station Barbers Point picked up two people, a 67-year-old female and a 53-year-old male, at 8:40 p.m. and safely transferred them to emergency medical services with The Queen’s Medical Center on Oʻahu.

Joint Rescue Coordination Center Honolulu watchstanders received a notification at 11:58 a.m, Oct. 28 from the aircrew that Kwajalein Hospital was requesting a non-maritime emergency medical services transport for two people experiencing medical emergencies.

After conferring with the duty flight surgeon, who recommended the people reach a higher level of care, watchstanders established regular communications with the hospital.

The aircrew had previously deployed to Guam to deliver relief supplies following Super Typhoon Champi.
