The Maui Department of Water Supply will shut off water to part of South Kīhei Road during a waterline cut-in project that begins on Wednesday night, officials said.
Water officials say the project includes the installation of a fire hydrant and other accessories for fire protection.
The project is scheduled to begin at 10 p.m. on Wednesday, May 29, and conclude at around 6 a.m. on Thursday, May 30, according to a county announcement.
Customers affected by the outage reportedly include those on South Kīhei Road from Kaiʻau Place to Dolphin Plaza including the following businesses and destinations: Maui Coast Hotel, WorldMark by Trendwest, Kamaole Beach Royale Resort, and Kamaole Beach Club.
Officials from the Department of Water Supply say customers affected may want to flush their waterlines for a short time on Thursday morning to ensure that no sediment has accumulated in their waterlines during the project.
Authorities further advise that customers may want to store water for the night if needed.
