UH to Host Prep Football Camp at Kamehameha Maui

Maui will be the first stop in a series of football clinics by the University of Hawaii at high school campuses across the state in June.

Past UH camps were held on the Manoa campus. This year, there will be a youth camp (for students kindergarten through eighth grade) at the UH athletic complex on June 18-19.

The other camps will be for grades 9-12.

Those camps will be held at Kamehameha-Maui on Thursday, June 6; Mililani High on June 9; Castle High on June 13; Hawaii Prep Academy on June 14; and McKinley High on June 15.

For each camp, the schedule will be: registration beginning at 9 a.m., session from 10 a.m. to noon, lunch from noon to 1 p.m., and a session from 1 to 3 p.m.

The entry fee, required by the NCAA, is $20. The fee covers the T-shirt, refreshments and insurance.

“We’re trying to keep the costs down,” Hawaii head football coach Norm Chow told the Honolulu Star Advertiser. “We want to see how we can help young people get better.”

Chow added: “We’re going to charge the minimal amount, get them a hamburger and a T-shirt, and have some fun together.”
