Items identified for consideration include:

  • A request to accept the donation of a 2013 Yamaha FX High Output Waverunner and a Waterman Rescue Sled from the Will Smith Foundation to the Department of Parks and Recreation. Baisa said council authorization is needed prior to an equipment demonstration planned on June 23, at the Foundation’s Water Safety Day event.
  • A request to amend the Fiscal Year 2013 Budget to address an anticipated shortfall in the Department of Fire and Public Safety budget, prior to the start of the next fiscal year on July 1,, 2013.  One amendment pertains to the Dept. of Finance countywide costs, insurance programs, and rescue operations.
  • Proposed bills from the Budget Director to amend the Fiscal Year 2013 Budget to cover the costs incurred for the demolition of the Old Wailuku Post Office and master planning for the Kalana O Maui Campus Expansion project.  According to Baisa, the administration sent communication to the council saying the proposed bills are aimed at addressing concerns regarding the use of funds from the Old Wailuku Post Office Rehabilitation appropriation.  The amendments being considered include: one relating to estimated revenues, total operating and capital improvement appropriations; and another relating to the issuance of General Obligation Bonds for demolition and master planning of building.
