Lahaina Home Fire Causes $100,000 Damage

A house fire caused an estimated $100,000 in damage to a home on Front Street before it was brought under control, fire officials said.

The incident was reported at 6:04 a.m. on Monday, June 17, 2013, at the two-story home located at 321 Front Street, according to department reports.

The fire was concentrated in the floor between the first and second story patio, said Maui Fire Services Chief Lee Mainaga.

When fire fighters arrived on scene, they observed smoke showing from the roof in the rear of the home, authorities said.

According to FS Chief Mainaga, the cause of the fire could not be determined, but it was classified as accidental.

No injuries were reported and no one was displaced by the incident, officials said.

Units responding to the scene reportedly included fire crews from the Lahaina, Nāpili, Wailuku, and Kahului stations.  Authorities say the fire was extinguished at 8:18 a.m.
