Maui Thing Celebrates 5th Anniversary With Mystery Concert

A small business branded with Maui in mind reaches a five year milestone next week, and is celebrating in style.
The Maui Thing store in Wailuku Town is hosting a secret band and runway show as part of the upcoming First Friday event on July 5.
The free mystery concert and models will take to the runway fronting the store on Market Street, wearing Maui Thing’s new summer line, themed “Alive.”
In keeping with the theme, store owners say the show will go through a life cycle of its own, with the unveiling of the new designs and models, a reflection of brightness after death, and coming full circle with a rebirth.
The “Five on the Fifth” celebration begins at 6:30 p.m., with the fashion show set to begin at 7:15 p.m. on Friday, July 5.
After five years of fashion, store officials say the company’s slogan, “Stuck on Good” still rings true, serving as positive inspiration for messaging in design.
Store managers say Saedene Ota of Wailuku launched the Maui Thing store in July of 2008, inspired by the concept of “all things good on the Valley Isle.”
“From its conception, Ota and her design team focused their efforts on a fresh and intriguing lifestyle company,” said retail manager Leslie Cummings.
In addition to its clothing line, the Maui Thing team also has lent a hand to enhance the vibrancy of Wailuku Town through various community efforts and events.
According to Cummings, customers can look for the new summer line, that will be available in store (located at 7 North Market Street) beginning on June 28.
