UPDATE: Fireworks Found at Baldwin Baseball Field Brush Fire

Fire officials say evidence of fireworks were found and collected at the scene of a brush fire near the HP Baldwin High School baseball field in Wailuku on Tuesday.
“After the investigation, the cause of this fire was determined to be fireworks related,” said Maui Fire Services Chief Lee Mainaga today.
The fire was first reported at 4:09 p.m. on Tuesday, July 9, 2013, off of Leleihoku Street in Wailuku.
The fire was called under control at 4:26 p.m. and extinguished at 4:55 p.m, said FS Chief Mainaga.
Fire officials say crews responding to the scene included firefighters from Kahului and Wailuku, as well as the department’s Air-1 helicopter.
A separate brush fire was reported earlier on Tuesday off of Waiinu Road in Wailuku just down the hill and across the street from the Maui Memorial Park. The cause of that fire was undetermined after investigation.

A fire inspector is conducting an investigation into an afternoon fire that burned an acre of brush just outside of the HP Baldwin High School baseball field, officials said.
The incident was reported at 4:09 p.m. on Tuesday, July 9, according to fire officials.
Maui Fire Services Chief Lee Mainaga said no structures were threatened and there were no reports of injury or damages.
