Maui Closures: Includes County Facilities, UH Maui College

The following are closures in effect for Monday, July 29, 2013, in anticipation of the effects of Tropical Storm Flossie.

Maui County Facilities, Parks Closed: All county facilities are closed today in anticipation of the storm. This includes all county parks, offices, DMVL offices and satellite facilities. County officials say automated trash service will operate on a normal schedule. Bus service is on a normal schedule, but subject to change should conditions warrant.

Port of Kahului Closed: The port of Kahului will be closed to all traffic starting at midnight on Sunday, July 28, 2013, in anticipation of Tropical Storm Flossie, officials with the US Coast Guard announced. In addition to Kahului Harbor, the ports of Hilo and Kawaihae on the Big Island of Hawaiʻi will also be closed to traffic, officials said.  According to the US Coast Guard, all cargo operations in these ports will be secured by 6 a.m. Monday, July 29, 2013.

UH Maui College, Closed: Due to heavy rain, wind and flooding that may arrive with Tropical Storm Flossie, the University of Hawaii Maui College and all Outreach Centers (including the Molokaʻi Education Center, Lahaina Education Center, Hāna Education Center and Lānaʻi Education Center) will be closed on Monday, July 29, 2013. Essential personnel may be notified by supervisors if they should report to work.  Continue to monitor UH Alert emails/text for additional updates.

Boys and Girls Clubs on Maui: Officials with the Boys and Girls Club on Maui issued an advisory that all operations on Maui will be closed today in anticipation of the storm.

Kīhei Charter Middle School & High School: The Kīhei Charter Middle School and High School will be closed on Monday, July 29, according to school officials.

Wailuku Hongwanji Preschool: Officials with the Wailuku Hongwanji Preschool in Central Maui issued a notification saying the school will be closed today, Monday, July 29, 2013, due to the approaching storm.

Pāʻia School Kindergarten orientation

Pāʻia School, Kindergarten orientation, 8:30 a.m. cancelled.

All God’s Children Preschool on Molokaʻi  – Closed, Monday, July 29, 2013

Kualapuʻu Public Conversion Charter School – Closed, Monday, July 29, 2013
