In a statement issued today, Sen Schatz said the grant will encourage equal access to transportation service, help ease traffic congestion, and aid in efforts to move away from dependence on foreign oil.

The project was selected on a competitive basis from the Federal Transit Administration’s Bus Livability Initiative, said Sen. Schatz.
