Fire crews arrived to find MPD personnel performing CPR on the victim next to the shore of the pool, said Maui Fire Services Chief Lee Mainaga.

According to Mainaga, the victim was pulled from the water by bystanders.  He said fire and medic units took over performing CPR, but were unsuccessful in resuscitating the victim.

Authorities say medics pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
