MECO Meetings Focus on Māʻalaea to Kamaliʻi Transmission Line

Maui Electric Company hosts the first of two community meetings tonight to provide information and updates on the Māʻalaea to Kamaliʻi 69kV Transmission Line Project, company officials said.
“The transmission line project is part of Maui Electric Company’s South Maui Reliability Projects which are proposed to meet the existing and future electrical needs of the growing South Maui community,” according to a public notice issued by MECO.
Company officials and engineering consultants will present preliminary design concepts and route options for the transmission line project.
Tonight’s meeting runs from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. (Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2013) at the Kīhei Community Center.
A second meeting will be held in Central Maui on Thursday, Sept. 5, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Pōmaikaʻi Elementary School Cafeteria in Kahului.
Company officials say the public is encouraged to attend and provide comments.
