Waterline Repair to Affect Traffic in Haʻikū

A waterline repair project in Haʻikū will affect traffic in the area this evening, officials said.

Personnel with the Maui Department of Water Supply will cut and plug two leaking waterlines at the intersection of Hāna Highway and ʻUlumalu Road beginning at 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 10, with work set to conclude by 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 11.

During the construction period, the southbound lane of ʻUlumalu Road from the Hāna Highway intersection will be closed to traffic, DWS officials said.

Motorists are advised to use Holokai or Peʻahi Road as alternate routes.

DWS officials say water service should not be affected.
