The County of Maui hosts a quarterly Permitting Open House this month, in an ongoing effort to assist residents and businesses in navigating through the permitting process.

County officials say the sessions are designed to simplify the permitting process.

The October workshop is free and open to the public.  It will take place from 1 to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 15 in the 9th Floor Conference Room of the Kalana O Maui building in Wailuku.

“We have had some very good results from these open house events,” said Managing Director Keith Regan in a media release statement. “People come in with short-term problems, long-term issues and everything in-between, and most of them leave with a clearer understanding of what needs to happen next,” he said.

Among those on hand to answer questions at the Open House will be officials from the County Departments of Fire and Public Safety, Water, Public Works, and Planning and Environmental Management.

Attendees seeking assistance with commercial or residential building permits are asked to bring building plans and other paperwork, so that permitting staff can assist in clarifying the process.
