The month-long “Get the Drift and Bag It” beach cleanup campaign ends this weekend with a final event at Baldwin Beach Park in Pāʻia.

The event is hosted by Mālama Maui Nui, and is run in partnership with the Ocean Conservancy and Surfrider Foundation-Maui Chapter as part of the International Coastal Cleanup.

The cleanup will run from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 19.  Cleanup supplies will be provided to event participants.

The coastal cleanup provides the public with an opportunity to help “turn the tide of trash that threatens the marine environment.”

Each piece of trash picked up is cataloged by type, providing valuable data for organizers.
