A high surf advisory is in effect for the north facing shores of Maui and Molokaʻi, with surf expected to be in the 12 to 16 foot range.

Forecasters with the National Weather Service also issued a high surf advisory for the west facing shores of Molokaʻi with surf expected to be 8 to 12 feet along affected shores.

The advisory conditions remain in effect until 6 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2013.

Advisory level surf has the potential to produce rip currents, create localized beach erosion, and result in strong braking waves along the shore.

The NWS advises beach goers, swimmers and surfers to heed the advice of ocean safety officials and exercise caution.
