A capital improvement project on the Pāʻia-Kūʻau water system starts on Wednesday night, Dec. 4, and will continue through the end of April 2014.

Department officials say the project will impact traffic in the affected area of the Hāna Highway from Lower Pāʻia Park to Hōlua Place in Kūʻau.

To reduce the impact on businesses and residents, department officials say all major construction will be performed at night, and is scheduled to run from 8:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m., Sunday through Thursday nights.

During construction, traffic may be limited to one lane only. Parking on Hāna Highway will be affected, and cars left in construction zones may be towed at owner’s expense, according to a department announcement.

Motorists are advised to expect delays and follow traffic control signs and flag personnel while passing through the work zone.
