Free Disaster Training in Wailuku, Jan 24-25

The American Red Cross on Maui is offering free training in disaster services to new volunteer candidates during a two-day session this month.

The basic disaster classes are being offered on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 24 and 25, at the Red Cross office in Wailuku.

Interested volunteers must register for and attend the entire series.

Course dates, times and locations are as follows:

  • Disaster Services – An Overview: Friday, Jan. 24, 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.
  • Shelter Fundamentals: Saturday, Jan. 25, 8 to 11 a.m.
  • Disaster Assessment Basics: Saturday, Jan. 25, 11:30 a.m.  to 2 p.m.
  • Disaster Action Team – An Orientation: Saturday, Jan. 25, 2 to 5 p.m.

To register for the upcoming basic training series, interested individuals can do so online at the Red Cross website, click on “volunteer” on the left side of the page, click on “becoming a volunteer,” and click on “apply now.”

After submitting an application, Red Cross staff will contact applicants via email for further instruction.
