An estimated 450 electric customers lost power in parts of Pāʻia early Wednesday morning following a car crash that sheared a utility pole guy wire.
A spokesperson with Maui Electric Company said the accident caused the wire to become entangled in electrical lines, knocking out power to affected customers at around 2 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2014.
Areas affected included portions of Pāʻia bounded by the Hāna Highway, Baldwin Avenue, the Pāʻia Halelani Subdivision, Skill Village, Anohou Street, Mahiko Street, and Ike Drive.
The lines were cleared and all affected customers were brought back online shortly after 3:16 a.m., according to Maui Electric Spokesperson Kauʻi Awai-Dickson.
