Haleakalā Partners with Macy’s for Funding Campaign

Maui shoppers at Macy’s in the Kaʻahumanu Shopping Center will be given the option at check-out to donate $1 or more to Haleakalā National Park as part of the “Heart Your Park” campaign.

In addition to individual donations, Macy’s will match each donation dollar for dollar up to $250,000 through March 31, 2014.

The campaign is being done in partnership between the National Recreation and Park Association and Macy’s stores nationwide to support area parks and, “advance recreation and environmental conservation efforts.”

Haleakalā National Park is the only national park in Hawai’i chosen as a “Heart Your Park” recipient.

“We are very thankful to have National Park Service partners and neighbors supporting some of our important programs,” said park superintendent Natalie Gates in a press release statement.

“Heart Your Park” donations will be used to support volunteer, endangered species, and internship programs at Haleakalā National Park on Maui.
