Surveillance Photos Released in Alleged Kahului Kmart Theft

Authorities from the Maui Police Department and Crime Stoppers are seeking the public’s help in identifying the person or persons responsible an alleged robbery that was reported at around 4:39 p.m. on Sunday, April 13, 2014 at the Big-Kmart in Kahului.

According to officials, a female suspect who was allegedly observed with stolen merchandise in her purse was being detained and escorted by store security officers when an unknown male individual “physically wrested the officer’s grasp, freeing the female offender.” 

The organization says the male individual then allegedly shoved a second officer in the chest causing the officer to stumble.

Both offenders were last seen fleeing the area in a red Jeep SUV.

Authorities did not say what items were allegedly stolen or what value they had.

The public should consider all wanted persons as dangerous and should not approach, follow or take other action that could put themselves in danger.

The public is reminded that the information provided by authorities is merely an accusation, and all parties are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
