Young Maui Philanthropists Rock the Charity Walk

A team of young girls from Kīhei on Maui raised an estimated $4,500 during the recent Maui Visitor Industry Charity Walk, hosted by the Maui Hotel & Lodging Association.

The funds were raised with the support of the girls’ family friends and neighbors, and will be donated to Hospice Maui.

The “Girls Rock for Chairty Walk” team was comprised of 14 girls ranging in age from 8 to 12, under the direction of team chairs: Chloe LoGrande, 12; Julia Jansen, 11; and Coral Carhart, 10.

This was the third consecutive year that the team has participated in the event, with the girls doubling their goal for this year’s challenge.

“When my neighbor heard who I was raising money for she was so surprised. I think she expected me to be selling Girl Scout cookies or soccer team car wash tickets,” said LoGrande.

“She was even more surprised when I could tell her what Hospice Maui did for people. This has been a great experience for me and my friends. We learned a lot about hospice, and now we want to double our goal again for next year,” she said in a team press release announcement.
