Woman Suffers Puncture Wounds in Waiheʻe Dog Attack

A female hiker was treated and released for puncture wounds after she reported being bitten by an aggressive pit bull dog on the Waiheʻe Ridge Trail above Camp Maluhia over the weekend, police said.

The incident was reported at around 9:09 a.m. on Sunday, June 22, 2014.

Rescue crews were sent to escort the group of hikers out of the area, and animal control personnel were sent to capture the loose dog.

Police say the owner of the pitbull is unknown.
